Connect to a server in the region of the library you want to access.
Navigate to Netflix. If it was already open, refresh the page or restart Netflix. This will open Netflix in the library of the country the VPN is connected to.
Have fun streaming all the movies and series you like!
Can I Access Netflix Libraries in Other Regions?
Yes, you can access other Netflix libraries. Netflix’ content varies between the 190 different regions. For some movies and series, Netflix has exclusive rights worldwide. Other rights may be region-specific, meaning it is only available on Netflix in a certain region. For this reason, the Netflix catalog for Netflix US differs from Netflix UK.
When you’re binge-watching a show, but it suddenly disappears from Netflix, or you’re traveling and can’t access your home library, it can be helpful to change your Netflix region. Netflix decides which library you see based on your IP address. With a VPN, you can change your IP address to one in another country, giving you access to that country’s Netflix library!
In the screenshot below, you can see we could successfully stream The Hunger Games with NordVPN and a Dutch VPN server!
Although there are other solutions, a VPN is the easiest and most reliable solution. It is important to choose a solid VPN. If Netflix notices that you’re using a VPN, they will only show you movies and series for which they have worldwide rights, such as Netflix Originals. With a reliable VPN, like NordVPN, Netflix won’t detect your VPN usage and you can watch all the shows you like!
Surfshark: affordable and reliable VPN, watch Netflix on unlimited devices
ExpressVPN: premium VPN with great customer support
CyberGhost: user-friendly VPN with dedicated servers
PIA: VPN with tons of servers that focuses on your privacy
If you want to successfully access a Netflix library outside your home region, there are a number of requirements that your VPN must meet. Because Netflix can detect VPN use, it is important that the VPN can bypass these geographical restrictions that Netflix imposes, for example with a dedicated IP address.
Moreover, the VPN must have a wide server network to access many different libraries. The VPN must also be fast, so that you can stream without buffering. All of the VPNs mentioned, meet these requirements. We regularly unblock a foreign Netflix library with NordVPN.

Can I Access My Netflix Region Without a VPN?
A VPN is not the only way to access different Netflix regions. In this section, we’ll dive deeper into the other options. Be aware that whichever option you choose, you’ll need an active Netflix account.
Using Smart DNS
Smart DNS is the easiest way to change your Netflix region, apart from a VPN. Since you don’t need to download any additional software, you can use Smart DNS on almost any device.
A Smart DNS service allows you to change your device’s DNS settings to redirect your connection to DNS servers in a country of your choice, such as the UK, so you can stream Netflix UK. Some VPNs, such as NordVPN, Surfshark and ExpressVPN, offer their own Smart DNS tools.
Smart DNS is fast and often cheaper than a VPN. However, it doesn’t encrypt your internet traffic and doesn’t hide your IP address. This means your ISP can see your online activity and you’re not protected from cybercriminals while connected to unsecured Wi-Fi networks.
Proxy servers are often free and easy to use. You can use a proxy site to route your traffic through a third-party server. You can then connect to Netflix and change your region. One advantage is that a proxy server hides your IP address.
However, proxy servers only route traffic from the application they are running on, meaning you can’t access a foreign Netflix library through an external Netflix app. Additionally, proxies are less reliable at changing your Netflix region than Smart DNS.
Unlike a VPN, proxy servers do not encrypt your internet traffic.
If you want to stream Netflix safely and easily, VPNs are simply the most convenient and reliable option. We recommend subscribing to NordVPN if you want to try it out for yourself.
There are ways to change your Netflix region and access other Netflix libraries for free. Unfortunately, they aren’t the most reliable. We will cover the options anyway. Make sure you have an active Netflix account before you begin.
Free VPN
If you want to change your Netflix region for free, your best option is to use a free VPN. Free VPNs are often less secure than premium VPNs. They can log and sell your data or contain malware. Moreover, free VPNs often have data caps and speed limits.
If you do want to use a free VPN, we recommend PrivadoVPN. This VPN has free servers in 10 countries, which means you can unblock 10 Netflix libraries. PrivadoVPN has a monthly data limit of 10GB, which is fine for streaming Netflix for a short time.
Remote Desktop Software allows you to control another computer remotely. This solution may seem far-fetched, but it can be useful if you are traveling and have family or friends at home.
In order for this to work, you need a remote PC or laptop that is physically located in the country you want to connect to. For example, if you live in the US, but are traveling and want to continue watching your favorite series on Netflix US, the laptop you’re connecting to must be located in the United States.
The remote computer must be turned on and connected to the internet. Also, both the remote device and your own device must have RDS installed. Remote Desktop Software is safe and reliable, because you don’t share your IP address with others.
However, you can probably already see the disadvantages: your connection will be very slow, making it difficult to stream anything. Plus, it is quite a hassle to set up. In addition, this option only gives you access to one Netflix library: the one where the remote computer is located.
Tor Browser
Technically, you can use the Tor browser to change your Netflix region. Using Tor is free. Tor encrypts your internet traffic and sends it through at least three different servers around the world before forwarding you to the website you want to visit. The last of these servers is called the end node.
When you stream Netflix through Tor, you’re using the IP address of the end node, which means that you can only access that specific Netflix library. One major problem is that you cannot choose the location of the end note, which means you can’t choose which Netflix library you get access to.
Moreover, Tor is extremely slow due to the military-grade encryption it enforces. Given all this, we recommend using a VPN to stream Netflix comfortably and unblock the Netflix library of your choice.
There are over 190 Netflix libraries worldwide. Below are the top 10 countries with the most content available, and you might be surprised — the US doesn’t even make the top 20. We’ll also list a movie from each library that is worth watching.

How to Change Your Netflix Region: Frequently Asked Questions
Do you still have a question? We’ll try to answer it in de FAQ section below!
Is changing my Netflix region legal?
It’s perfectly legal to use a VPN to change your Netflix region. However, make sure to read Netflix’ terms of service thoroughly. Although the streaming service claims to detect VPN use and then show only titles available worldwide, we were able to access a wide variety of Netflix libraries using NordVPN.
How do I watch Netflix in a different region?
You can change your Netflix region with a VPN (Virtual Private Network). A VPN changes your IP address to one in another country, making Netflix think you are in that particular region. This gives you access to that country’s Netflix library!
How does Netflix verify location?
Netflix verifies your location based on your IP address. If you have a US IP address, you can only access Netflix US. A VPN changes your IP address, giving you access to different Netflix libraries. Be aware that Netflix does not like VPN use, just as it discourages password sharing.
Can I access Netflix libraries from other countries?
Yes, you can access any Netflix library you want. All you need to do is use a VPN and change your Netflix region. We recommend NordVPN, because this provider is fast and has a large server network.
